Weddings

A wedding in a church allows you to make your commitment to each other that little bit more special, by making your commitment and promises before God. Hockley & Hawkwell Methodist Church is an attractive and welcoming venue for a wedding and we'll do all we can to help make your special day a success.

You can make enquiries about your wedding at the Church by contacting Rev Dr Calvin Samuel - phone 07411 289 469 or  email calvin.samuel@methodist.org.uk

Both the Bride and Groom will need to give notice of their intention to marry in person to the Superintendent Registrar in the district where they live up.  This can be done up to twelve months prior to the marriage ceremony.  An authority for the marriage will be given and this must be in the hands of the minister taking the service before the wedding can take place.

The Minister will discuss with you the content of the service, and there are various choices of set words to say. (There are certain legal words that have to be said).

Music is a very personal choice, but the minister and organist will help you make that choice. The church has the facility to project photos, play pre-recorded music, or show videos. Sound amplification for soloists and instruments can also be provided.

We do not insist on you attending the church, either before or after your wedding, but you will be most welcome. You may choose to visit the church for one of our services before your wedding so you can see what it is like, and hear the acoustics of the music and the ambience of worship.

The Church Hall may also be booked – please contact our Bookings Secretary Carolyn Sturgess at hmethsbookings@gmail.comPlease note that the Methodist Church does not allow alcohol on its premises.
